MaharanaPratap (May 9, 1540 – January 29, 1597)




Maharana Pratap Jayanti is the birthday celebrations of a famous ruler of Mewar. It is one of the popular festivals that Rajputs of Rajasthan observe. MaharanaPratap Jayanthi is mainly celebrated in Rajsamand district of Rajasthan every year on Shukla Thritiya of the Ashad month (May or June). In year 2010, Maharana Pratap Jayanti is date on 15th June. MaharanaPratap (May 9, 1540 – January 29, 1597) was a Hindu ruler of Mewar, a state in north-western India.
He belonged to the Sisodia clan of Suryavanshi Rajputs. The epitome of fiery Rajput pride and self-respect, Pratap has for centuries exemplified the qualities to which Rajputs aspire. MaharanaPratapJayanti is celebrated with cultural programs. Children are dressed in the style of this King. Local people climb the hill and pay homage to this king and his divine horse Chetak. In Udaipur Memorial light and sound program display the glorious 1400 years of Mewar’s history.
